Meet Mikey!

Mikey is a handsome, fun-loving 2-year-old Black Lab who came to us as a rescue and began training to become a service dog. He’s a happy, social boy who loves meeting people and brings great energy wherever he goes. While he was ultimately career changed, he is now looking for a forever home where he can thrive as a companion.

Training & Skills:

Mikey has a solid foundation in basic obedience and knows sit, down, heel, stay, and recall. He is very treat motivated, eager to learn, and highly workable. He enjoys training sessions and loves being active, especially outdoors.

Temperament & Behavior:

Mikey does well with other dogs when properly introduced and generally gets along fine, unless the other dog is very pushy or challenging. He enjoys activity but also knows how to relax once his needs are met. He’s affectionate, people-oriented, and happiest when he’s included in daily life.

Reason for Career Change:

Mikey was career changed from our service dog program due to resource guarding. This behavior does not make him suitable for service work, but with proper management and feeding structure, he can do very well in a home setting. This is an important consideration for potential adopters.

Why Mikey?

Mikey is a joyful, intelligent, and active dog who would be a great match for someone looking for a fun companion to train, hike, play, and enjoy life with. He has a lot to offer the right home and is ready for his next chapter. Mikey can only go home to an experienced handler.
