Meet Henry! Henry is an absolute sweetheart of a dog who came to us as a rescue after a difficult start in life. Before coming to us, he had been sold from one person to another for breeding purposes and unfortunately never received the proper care, stability, or socialization he deserved. We took Henry in with the hope of giving him a second chance through our service dog program. Since arriving, he has come a long way and has blossomed into an outgoing, loving, and affectionate boy who genuinely enjoys being around people.

Training & Skills: Henry had a lot to learn when he first arrived, but he has started building a great foundation in his basic obedience. He is continuing to improve and is a willing, enjoyable dog to work with.

Temperament & Personality: Henry is a sweet, outgoing, and loving Golden who enjoys attention and being around his people. Considering the lack of socialization and stability he experienced early in life, he has made wonderful progress. With other dogs, Henry does very well with females. However, he does not consistently get along with other male dogs and can become dominant toward them.

Career Change: Henry originally entered our program with the goal of becoming a service dog, but we ultimately decided to career change him due to his behavior around other male dogs. For service work, our dogs need to be consistently neutral and reliable around other dogs. Rather than continuing to push Henry toward a career that may not be the best fit for him, we believe he deserves a wonderful pet home where he can simply enjoy life.

Why Henry?: Henry has spent enough of his life being passed around and used for breeding. Now he deserves something completely different: a stable family, lots of love, and a home where he can finally belong. He is a beautiful, affectionate Golden with a great personality and a training foundation already in place. With the right family, Henry is going to be an amazing companion.
